Welcome! I am Board Certified Gastroenterologist with a career long experience working with patients affected by chronic disorders of altered brain gut microbiome interactions. I have over 40 years of clinical practice specializing in helping patients with chronic abdominal pain and discomfort, often associated with chronic stress, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, trauma, physical illnesses that impact overall wellbeing and quality of life.
My view of disease and wellbeing is based on a philosophy of interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit. This view has evolved from a career long research interest in brain gut microbiome disorders, including functional and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBS and IBD), obesity, autism spectrum disorders, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Most of my patients have seen several medical practitioners and have undergone multiple non-diagnostic procedures without improvement of their symptoms.
My integrative approach to chronic disease is based on a combination of medial, dietary and lifestyle interventions, personalized to your specific problems. Based on my own contemplative practice and respect for ancient healing traditions, I am working closely with a team of healthcare providers, including dietitians, psychologists and psychiatrists who all share my holistic view of health and disease. I completed my fellowship in Gastroenterology at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
While my California Medical License limits my telehealth consultations to California residents, I do provide second opinions for patients from outside of California.
